Add to My HeroesGeorge G. Gresham
Officer George Gresham was shot and killed by a suspect in a case of revenge. The suspect had been chased out of the neighborhood the previous night after firing shots. As Officer Gresham was on patrol he spotted the man crouching behind a pole.
When he shined his flashlight on the man the suspect opened fire, fatally wounding him. On February 9, 1921, a suspect was apprehended in New Mexico; returned to Fort Worth and charged with murder. Days later charges were dismissed due to insufficient evidence. The case was never solved.
Officer Gresham was survived by his wife and three daughters.
