I was a motor officer with the San Jose Police Department when this double murder of the two CHP officers occurred. On the day of the funeral, Dec. 26,1978, I and SJPD officer Duncan 'Buc' Demers rode up from San Jose to attend the funeral. There were so many officers inside the church that we stood in ranks on the street outside during the service. It was bitterly cold and foggy. A very solemn day.
