Bert was an inspiration to me. He was a Navy recruiter as I went into the Marine Corps in 1973. I stayed in contact with him each time I came home on leave. Great guy! I was in Okinawa when he was murdered, couldn't make it to his funeral, but he always wanted me to get into law enforcement, which I had no desire to. After his murder, I followed his wishes. 35 years a police officer thanks to him. Will miss him always!
