Sergeant Jeff Richardson was killed in an automobile crash on U.S. Highway 167 just north of Medley Road while responding to assist a Sharp County Sheriff's Office deputy who was involved in a vehicle pursuit.

Another car turned in front of him causing a collision. Sergeant Richardson and the driver of the other vehicle were both killed.

Sergeant Richardson had served with the Cave City Police Department for 2-1/2 years. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, and parents.

Tree Top. That's the nickname I've heard. I didn't remember anything about him, just memories of others told to me as stories. Of pulling over my mom when he saw her in town. Of a great basketball player. Devoted husband, father, and son. Pictures and stories I know, memories I don't. To the father I never knew. Your legacy lived though your parents, Jack and Tommie, and mine continues though them.
