John Drewry

Sergeant John Drewry was stabbed to death during an escape attempt at Folsom State Prison in Represa, California. The incident occurred as Sergeant Drewry and another officer were attempting to stop an escape.

The suspect was convicted of murder and hanged on August 27, 1915.

Sergent Drewry had served with the agency for just over one year. He was survived by his wife and four children.

On today, the 110th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of California. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer.
