Policeman John Creevy was shot while trying to break up a domestic disturbance in a house in the 1000 block of Germantown Avenue.

A man, who had already killed another man in the house, grabbed Policeman Creevy's service revolver from its holster and shot him. The man was tackled outside the house and badly beaten by a crowd. Policeman Creevy was taken to Saint Mary's Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

The suspect was convicted of Policeman Creevy's murder and executed on December 3, 1928.

Policeman Creevy was a 24-year veteran of the force.
