Charles Cook

Deputy Cook was struck and killed by a vehicle while checking on a person lying on the side of the Gadsden Anniston Highway before 9 pm.

He had just stepped out of his patrol car when he was struck. The driver fled the scene. Two men and a woman were apprehended a few hours later.

Deputy Cook was survived by his wife, son, two brothers, and two sisters.
