I had the honor and privilege to work side by side with Sgt. Richard Allen Beck at Vernon Police Department. Not only was Richard a Police partner and colleague, but also a personal friend.
I also, unfortunately, had the hardest job...The response and Criminal Investigation of his death by Capital Murder on the early morning of November 17, 1991, when Richard was called to a domestic violence call.
The circumstances and scene were hard to grasp and experience. But as always, I put the personal feelings aside and investigate the crime.
Richard was one at Vernon PD (as with all PDs) that stood out. Mild mannered. Funny, contagious laugh. He had a natural gift to help people.

You will always be honored
