Charles Russell Ladd

Detective Charles Ladd was crushed between two freight cars in the Nickel Plate yards in Lima, Ohio.

He had been called to the yards to investigate reports of a suspicious person. He was chasing the man when he attempted to cross the tracks between freight cars. The cars buckled and he was crushed between them.

Detective Ladd was a U.S. Army veteran of WWI and had served in law enforcement for three years. He was survived by his wife and two children.

On today, the 90th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army during WW I.
