Samuel Norman

Constable Samuel Norman was shot and killed while attempting to serve an arrest warrant on a man wanted for assaulting a woman in Tarentum Borough.

The subject purchased a pistol after learning that a warrant had been issued for him. Constable Norman located him attempting to leave town at the railroad station. As he attempted to take him into custody, the man pulled out the pistol and shot him once in the jaw and once in the head.

The man fled the scene after the shooting.

Constable Norman was a Union Army veteran of the Civil War. He was survived by his wife and two daughters.
