Deputy Marshal Everett Fuller was shot and killed in Buchanan County, Virginia, when he encountered a man wanted for violating internal revenue laws.
The subject shot Deputy Marshal Fuller in the head and then fled into Pike County, Kentucky. He was shot and killed in Pike County two weeks later when he was located by a posse.
Deputy Marshal Fuller had served with the United States Marshals Service for only one month. He was survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
