Police Officer James Phelps suffered a fatal heart attack while assisting at the scene of a fire.
Officer Phelps had rushed into the burning building to help search it for anyone trapped inside. He collapsed after exiting the building and died.
Officer Phelps had served with the Paducah Police Department for four years. He was survived by his wife and three children.
