Patrolman Alvin Borgwardt and Patrolman Milton Verity were killed in a hit-and-run automobile crash at Hempstead Turnpike and Holland Avenue in Elmont.
The driver pled guilty and was sentenced to one year.
Patrolman Borgwardt had served with the Nassau County Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
