Deputy Jim Fee was shot and killed by a man he had arrested earlier in the day for selling liquor. After being released on bond, the man returned home and threatened Deputy Fee.
At approximately 8:30 pm the man went to Deputy Fee's home and shot him twice with a shotgun as the deputy stood on his porch. Deputy Fee identified the man as the shooter before succumbing to his wounds at approximately 2:00 am. The 62-year-old suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to life.
Deputy Fee was survived by his wife and six children.
