Raymond Gerald Armstead, Jr.

Trooper Raymond Armstead died after being involved in a collision on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway near Powder Mill Road in Prince George's County.

Trooper Armstead's attention was diverted to the side of the road by people who were flagging him down for another crash. Due to the distraction, he did not see traffic stopped in front of him and struck the rear of another vehicle. Trooper Armstead was trapped inside his patrol car before being freed by members of the Prince George's County Fire Department. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Trooper Armstead had served with the Maryland State Police for over one year. He is survived by his wife and two children.
