I was Federico’s friend in Cuba and my family sponsored him when he escaped and arrived in Florida. He came to live with us in Washington state and New Mexico before returning to Florida, closer to “home”.
We always kept in touch with him and Adelina. They were so proud of Robert (whom they named after my father) and came to visit us here in Washington over the years. We knew Robert as he was growing up and went into service.
We were shocked and deeply saddened when we heard Robert had been killed. Federico was completely broken-hearted when he called to tell us.
Federico and I continued in touch by phone & letters until calls went unanswered and the letters were returned undelivered.
We never knew what happened to him and Adelina.
Today this website (which I never knew existed) popped up on google search & re-awakened all the sorrow for your family. But at the same time it is great to read the postings & know how his grandchildren are doing.
If possible, I’d love to hear about Adelina and Federico. My email: m.miraver@gmail.com
