Deputy Sheriff Tony Olson was killed in an automobile crash while responding as a backup officer to a domestic disturbance.
His patrol car went down a 400-foot embankment on Arroyo Seco Road, two miles west of Elm Avenue. He became trapped inside the wreckage as it caught fire.
Deputy Olson had served with the Monterey County Sheriff's Office for four years. He is survived by his parents.
