Police Officer Robert Fisher was shot and killed while moonlighting as a security guard at the Sears store at 436 Main Street in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was transporting the night's cash box to his car when three men approached him and shot him in the chest.

A magazine name and address label found beside Officer Fisher's car led to the arrest of the suspects, 19, 21, and 23. The subject who shot him and another were sentenced to life in prison. The killer will be eligible for parole in 2056 and the other in 2026.

Officer Fisher had served with the Teaneck Police Department for 18 months and had previously served with the Bergen County Sheriff's Office for 18 months. He is survived by his son, parents, and fiancee.
