Ed Yoakum

Officer Ed Yoakum was shot and killed by a home-owner while responding to a burglary call. As he approached the back of the residence he apprehended the burglar who was leaving. The home-owner, who was not fully awake, opened fire and fatally wounded Officer Yoakum.

Officer Yoakum had previously served with the United States Army during World War I. He is buried at Vineyard Grove Cemetery in Fannin County, Texas.
