Patrolman Milton Verity and Patrolman Alvin Borgwardt were killed in a hit-and-run automobile crash at Hempstead Turnpike and Holland Avenue in Elmont.
The driver pled guilty and was sentenced to one year.
Patrolman Verity had served with the Nassau County Police Department for two years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
