Officer Wendell Troyer and Officer David Guider were killed when their department Hughes 269C helicopter experienced mechanical failure with the main rotor and crashed.
The helicopter crashed into a parking lot and building at 2033 Fruitvale Avenue and burst into flames.
Officer Troyer had served with the Oakland Police Department for 22 years. He was survived by his wife and two children.
