Sergeant Leland Teague succumbed to gunshot wounds received two weeks earlier when he and several other officers raided a home while searching for a man wanted for murdering a security guard.
The suspect was apprehended, convicted of two counts of first-degree murder, and sentenced to death. He was executed in the electric chair on April 27th, 1928.
Sergeant Teague was survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons, parents, and eight siblings.
