Elridge Rochelle Story

Patrolman Elridge Story was accidentally shot by a special officer at about 3:00 am while responding to a trespassing call in a coal yard at 1501 County Street on March 5, 1935.

The special officer was accompanying Patrolman Story when he stumbled and accidentally discharged his weapon. The round struck Patrolman Story in the leg. The wound was serious enough that the leg had to be amputated. He succumbed to complications of the operation on November 30, 1936.

Patrolman Story succumbed to the wound two years after the shooting. The exact date of the shooting is unknown.

Patrolman Story was survived by his wife and son.
