Deputy Sheriff Errol Rogers was killed in an automobile crash while riding as a passenger on Red Mountain Road near Klamath, California.

Deputy Rogers was returning from a marijuana raid in rain and fog. The truck failed to take the curve and fell off a 280-foot cliff. The driver suffered minor injuries.

Deputy Rogers had served with the Del Norte County Sheriff's Department for one year and previously served with the San Bernadino Police Department for 15 years. He was survived by his wife, two sons, daughter, brother, father, and stepmother.
