Reflections for K9 Rudy
- 1

The First & The Last
The first to sense the hostility of a suspect,
The first to react to protect his master,
The first to enter where danger lurks,
The first to detect the hidden intruder.
The first to take action against violence.
The first to sense his master’s joy.
The first to know his master’s sorrow or fear.
The first to give his life in defense of his master.
The last to be forgotten by those who work with others like him.
They know him as a “Partner”, not just an animal.

K9 Rudy seemed like such a good protector who served his community well. He looked like such a happy boy and seemed really happy to serve his community. He will never be forgotten for the actions that he took that day sacrificing his life for the safety of others. I chose K9 Rudy because of the brave actions that he took that night. May he rest in peace and our deepest condolences from the Escondido Police Department.

Psalm 36-5-7. Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds. Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice is like the ocean depths. You care for people and animals alike, O Lord. How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. Amen

K9 Rudy, Once again, one of God's special agents has been taken out by evil. When will your death, and that of your K9 peers, be seen for what it is - murder. The bullet you took was meant for your team members. Your unfailing willingness to go where your partner sent you, and the courage you displayed in never hesitating, attests to your complete faithfulness. You COULD sense the danger, you COULD smell the evil, but still never hesitated or second guessed your partner's commands. Enjoy your reward now, in Heaven with your greatest fan, your Creator. Let your partner's heart know that you are at peace and rest, and that he should be so too.

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families of our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a Law Enforcement K-9 family member in the Line-of-Duty, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.
