Reflections for K9 Lenin

The First & The Last

The first to sense the hostility of a suspect,
The first to react to protect his master,
The first to enter where danger lurks,
The first to detect the hidden intruder.
The first to take action against violence.
The first to sense his master’s joy.
The first to know his master’s sorrow or fear.
The first to give his life in defense of his master.
The last to be forgotten by those who work with others like him.
They know him as a “Partner”, not just an animal.

Being a K9 Officer for 21years it is very hard to put into words what a great partnership you build with your K9 friend. The work and dedication your dog puts into his job and protection of you the Officer and his Work Mates. May he rest in peace and chase the celestial bone in Heaven. He will be waiting for his Human Master when he/she walks through the Pearly Gates of Heaven. God be with all his Human Friends.

K9 Lenin, It is more than puzzling why God would create such a beautiful canine as you, then, empower you with tremendous skill that easily surpassed any and all expectations, only to take you home too soon.
As you illuminate the heavens, whisper in your partner's ear that all is well. Shine down on your earthly department and family with comfort and peace. Let them know that there is a star with your name on it when they look up to the sky.

My heart breaks every time a K9 is killed but this one hurts a little extra. My K9 Dash was killed on 3/9/22. Prayers to the handler and his family we know far to well the toll it takes on them as well. Also, prayers to the department. If the handler needs an ear I’m available.

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families of our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a Law Enforcement K-9 family member in the Line-of-Duty, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.
