K9 Exo, There is certainly NO greater sacrifice than a life being given to save a life. You took the shots and saved your partner from probable death. Sadly, the perp's life was spared and only suffered injury. He deserved to lose his spirit by taking yours. God has a special place for you and each bullet is now replaced by a shining, glorious star reflecting your name and legacy for eternity!
May God continue to protect your partner and bring him peace until the day you meet again.

This poem was written for K9 Fargo of the Richland County Sheriff's Department in Honor of the unquestionable sacrifices K9's make in their everyday service to their partners and Agencies! Let this poem stand as a tribute to all our K9 Heroes who give the ultimate sacrifice!
“Our K9 Named Fargo"
He was just another Police dog,
I was going to have to train,
He was a beautiful “Belgian Malinois”,
And Fargo was his name.
We worked so hard together,
From sun up until Night,
His future as a Police Dog,
Became our daily plight.
This dog could do anything,
He was so easy to train,
Each day he made me so proud,
My partner “Fargo” was his name.
After months of rigorous training,
Fargo was ready for the road,
It didn’t take long to prove himself,
He was one of the best-I was told!
He hit on the drugs every time,
And tracked down the criminals too,
He did everything I ask of him,
There was nothing he wouldn’t do.
We stayed together day and night,
This dog I had to train,
He was my partner and my friend,
“Fargo” was his name!
It was the 16th of December,
With the moon and stars so bright,
When “Fargo” hit the trail of a robber,
My heart stopped when shots rang in the night!
My Partner was hit several times,
This K9 I had to train,
We cried because he didn’t make it,
My partner “Fargo” was his name!

I've worked many times with Exo. We just brought him home today. He's the 2nd K9 in a month to be shot in the Moss Point area. Fortunately K9 Buddy survived but K9 Exo did not. He will be greatly missed.

Lord God of unfailing love, to those families of our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a Law Enforcement K-9 family member in the Line-of-Duty, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. Amen.

You’ll Meet Me In The Light
I know that you can’t see me,
But trust me I’m right here.
Although I’m up in Heaven,
My love for you stays near.
So often I see you crying,
Many times you call my name.
I want so much to lick your face,
And ease some of your pain.
I wish that I could make you see,
That Heaven is in deed real.
If you could see me run and play,
How much better you would feel.
But our loving God has promised me,
That when the time is right,
You’ll step into the darkness,
And meet me in the light.
