An accidental tragedy that defies understanding. We ask God why, searching for a reason for such a tremendous loss. Only He knows why He chose to take beautiful Kane home. May He also bless Kane's handler and the department with a blanket of comfort and quiet peace, and the knowledge that this outstanding K-9, who executed his duties with perfect precision, is now in the company of his fellow K-9 officers and in good hands in heaven, to be someday met again.

A Prayer for K9 Kane:
Thank you for your law enforcement service to the citizens of Bell County, Kentucky and to the Bell County Sheriff’s Department. Let us celebrate your accomplishments and remember your selfless sacrifice in the Line-of-Duty. In Luke 3:6 Jesus promised, “And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.” So, death is not the end; it does not have the final say! All dogs do go to heaven because you have a spirit that epitomizes God's unconditional love. After all, DOG is GOD spelt backwards! Now, my furry, four-legged Comrade-in-Blue, rest easy, we will take it from here.
"Well done, good and faithful servant" [Matthew 25:11 ESV]
Almighty God, the Bell County Sheriff’s Department was fortunate to receive the gift of Kane from You. Now that he has left this life, please help them cope with their loss with strength and courage. I know that their beloved companion no longer suffers, and will live on in many fond memories. May he always be remembered as a trusted colleague who completed his missions with true dedication as he was trained, as well as, the unconditional love he provided his caregivers. May the Lord God bless you always. In Jesus’ holy and mighty name, I pray. Amen.

I have a Belgian malinois. And for any who might say the officer could have stopped him you don't know this breed. My girl Katie is crazy when it comes to her ball. She has ran in the road more than once she only sees one thing her ball. I am sorry for your loss they are wonderful dogs. Smart, loving, and very protective. And I know Kane was a part of your family.I will be praying for you.
