Living in the upstate of South Carolina I have seen reports of Hyco on every TV news report since this tragedy occurred. I am so sorry this happened but I know he was just doing his job and working dogs love doing what they are trained to do.

K9 Hyco:

Thank you for your law enforcement service to the citizens of Anderson County, South Carolina and to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office. Let us celebrate your accomplishments and remember your selfless sacrifice. However, death is not the end; it does not have the final say! All dogs do go to heaven because you have a spirit that epitomizes God's unconditional love. And He [Jesus] said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise" Luke 23:43. Now, my four-legged Comrade in Blue, rest easy, we will take it from here. "Well done, good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:11. May the Lord God bless you always.

Hyco was an excellent officer. I am honored to have worked along side him and his handler, Brandon Surratt. They made the perfect team. Hyco was such a well rounded dog that did excellent in every situation. He was great around kids and had a great work ethic. He laid down his life to protect the one he loved the most. We lost a great friend, but he left an impression that will last a lifetime. We will miss you Hyco! Thank you for saving my friend!!!
