People who have not worked with the sheriff k-9 unit, do not understand that the dog and the officer have a special bond. One that cannot be broken by death. The dog and the officer see each other more than the officer does their family. It is a bond that is strong and the handler loves the dog. The dog goes everywhere with the officer and at the end of the day goes home with the officer. The family in many cases bonds with the dog as well as the officer themselves. Because of this bond the death of the dog is a hard one and many don't understand. Rest in Peace k-9 dutch. You were a hard worker.

K9 Dutch:

Thank you for your law enforcement service to the citizens of Minneapolis, Minnesota and to the Minneapolis Police Department. Let us celebrate your accomplishments and remember your sacrifice. However, death is not the end; it does not have the final say! All dogs do go to heaven because you have a spirit that epitomizes God's unconditional love. And He [Jesus] said to him, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise" Luke 23:43. Now, my four-legged Comrade in Blue, rest easy, we will take it from here. "Well done, good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:11. May the Lord God bless you always.
