K9 Officers Jimmy and Hector, your service at your handler's side each day will not be forgotten. Without a question, you would have lain your life down to protect theirs. I know your department is devastated by your loss. I can only imagine the agony your handler is feeling. I pray for they find peace in knowing that you certainly received a Hero's welcome and are now running and playing with no worries at the Rainbow Bridge. I hope they find peace in the fact that you will be waiting there for them one day. Thank you for your service, Officers.

God Bless you for every beat you walked so others could rest safely at home.

What a horrible and tragic death for you. Your service at your handler's side each day will not be forgotten. Without a question, you would have lain your life down to protect theirs. I know your department is devastated by your loss. I know your handler is lost and empty inside. I pray your handler will be able to forgive themselves and take peace in the fact that you certainly received a hero's welcome and are now frolicking happily at the Rainbow Bridge with no more worries of the evil in this world. Thank you for your service.

God Bless you for every beat you walked so others could rest safely at home.

So sad. This is a tragedy that should never have happened and now its happening more often than not. Something needs to change so that these precious commodities, partners, life friends should not have to endure this. They are our protectors! Treat them as such. Love them, pet them, watch over them as they do us. Rest in Peace Hector my boy. You have done your duty for us all.

This is such sad, avoidable death. He was an officer who put his life on the line for others. May you Run Free at Rainbow Bridge and we pray this never happens again. This news just broke my heart.

This is not the way a hero should die.
A K9 is not a pet, and not just man's best friend. A K9 is a partner, a protector, and confidant. This loss if felt across the force.
Hector, you have done your duty. Rest easy now. We have the watch from here.

IN MEMORY OF K9 JIMMY AND K9 HECTOR

To the family, friends, and colleagues of K9 Jimmy and K9 Hector:

From the beginning of time after Cain killed his brother, Abel, there has been a need for law enforcement officers to protect the weak and to bring evildoers to justice. This work is necessary in a sinful world and is dangerous. Thus far in 2015, ten law enforcement canines have sacrificed their lives to protect their handlers and the citizens of this great nation. Today, we honor the sacrifice of K9 Jimmy and K9 Hector, of the Hialeah, Florida, Police Department, who both died in the line-of-duty on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, of heat exhaustion after accidentally being left in their handler’s patrol vehicle following his shift and a callout to assist a neighboring law enforcement agency unattended for nine hours.

Lord God, we are grateful for the life of K9 Jimmy and K9 Hector. They died serving us. Help us never to forget them. Help us celebrate the life of K9 Jimmy and K9 Hector and honor their sacrifice. Be with the family, friends, and colleagues of these fallen heroes. Comfort them and give them your strength. Guide those who seek to take care of the family of these heroes. May those empowered to do so, care for them with integrity. In commemorating the death of these heroes, help those who mourn to remember that death is not the end. Death does not have the final say, but is simply the transition to the glorious life to come. Dogs do go to heaven! They should look forward to that life to come with joy and thanksgiving.

As for the citizens of Hialeah, Florida, help them to faithfully equip their law enforcement officers and canines with the best tools to protect their community. May their training be adequate to the task. Help the citizens of Hialeah, Florida, to remember to fund their law enforcement canine programs adequately and treat their canine heroes with respect. Help the citizens of Hialeah, Florida, to obey the law and treat each other with dignity so as not to add to the burden of crime and pain to their community.

The time for mourning will soon pass. We have now remembered and celebrated the life lost in this great tragedy. As the family, friends, and colleagues of K9 Jimmy and K9 Hector go forward, they must celebrate the good things in their lives; and to celebrate life itself!

Finally, Lord God, we pray for the families, friends, and colleagues of all the law enforcement officers and canines who have been killed in the line-of-duty and we thank you for their sacrifices. Bless the lives of their families, friends, and colleagues so they might find healing. Help their law enforcement organizations support the families of these fallen heroes. Even though their deaths might have been senseless, make something good come out of these situations so that their law enforcement organizations and the communities in which they lived and served might be stronger because of their lives and their deaths. Amen.

Now, K9 Jimmy and K9 Hector, may the Lord bless you both, and keep you: the Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you: the Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen.
Now, go together and crossover the ‘Rainbow Bridge’ for there is much work to do in God’s Legions against Evil!
