My nephew, who is a deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Dept in Colorada, lost his K-9 partner, Flash, just this past week. Although the circumstances are different (Flash had cancer) the loss is, I'm sure, the same, for both the department and especially the handler. The community has lost a committed defender, the department a valued officer, and Deputy Wallace a trusted partner and beloved family member. My heartfelt condolences. RIP Sultan.

Sorry to hear about your tragic loss. May his handler know that many thoughts and prayers are going out in his behalf. As a former K9 handler I know how close a dog and his handler get and it is truly like losing a family member.

You have guarded our backs, always with that pleasure to please. We have trusted you even when we had our own doubts, and you prevailed. Thanks for never showing fear when there was fear and always going the extra mile no matter what the call was. You will be missed, you will never be replaced. Go and romp in that great puppy heaven, play with the ball and roll on your back forever. You earned it partner.

I am the daughter and sister of former Vermont State Troopers. Though neither my father or brother was a canine handler, I know what a great service these dogs provide to us all. I am so very sorry that Sultan has given the ultimate sacrifice. I wish peace and healing to his handler and all those who served with him and loved him. Thank you for your service and sacrifice, Sultan. Rest in peace.
