Petra, you will always know what a "Good Girl" you are. May God pet you and receive you with open arms to your new home and place among the peace makers. We all appreciated the courage you demonstrated with nerves of steel at both ends of your leash. The bond of K-9 and their Officer partner is like a bond of no other. My heart breaks every time I learn another K9 Officer has ended their watch under circumstances such as these. I co-wrote the recently passed new law in Alabama to enhance the protection for K9's our state did not afford, and I am proud to have served our K9 Community and their handlers. I am an attorney who has spent the majority of my career defending Police and law enforcement personnel, and I simply wanted to extend my deepest sorrow and sympathy for the early passing of another fine Officer, Petra.
