Words cannot describe the feeling in ones heart when a police officer is injured or worse murdered. This includes our heroic K9’s. The love, devotion and valor that they give can only be described as unconditional in every way. Ronin your short life and career came to an end at the hands of a cowardly murderer but you have done your duty and saved a life. A life I am certain that would have risked all to save yours if at all possible. God Bless you brave soul as you have allowed your handler to return home to his family. Godspeed over the Rainbow Bridge to meet your fallen comrades and please continue to watch over him and all your brothers and sisters from Heaven’s Gate!

My heart goes out to the handler as well as the department. Being a K9 officer myself I know how these K9's become not just a partner but they become a family member. People don't understand the time that's put into being a K9 unit. The hours of training and when you spend that much time you look at them as your child, friend, partner, and family member.

Human or canine, the loss of an officer is devastating. Surely Ronin died doing what he was indoctrinated to do...seek and corner or capture the evil that walks among us. And he did just that.

The sign of a true heroic K-9! Breaks my heart and my thoughts and prayers are with his handler and his family and the Glendale PD. Grateful that his handler is going to be ok but he'll need strength and support during this difficult time of losing his partner.
