K9 Ape not only saved adult lives, but his sacrifice brought closure to a terrifying experience for the children and their parents in the Mohawk Valley. The necessary lockdowns of the schools and the change in routines were disconcerting, especially in the beginning elementary grades. K9 Ape brought peace to our children. What a gift and legacy he left them!! Ape earned his canine wings that day. RIP, Ape.

Thank god for the selfless and heroic actions of Ape and our fellow K9 MOS. They sacrifice themselves so that we can sign-out and go home each day. We must never forget them and fight for tougher laws to protect them.

My husband and I would like to extend deepest sympathies to the handler of Ape. As animal lovers ourselves, we can't imagine how you must have felt to see your best friend go down. He did his job to protect you, but he didn't deserve to die at such a young age.
Ape will be forever remembered in the Mohawk Valley as our hero. At the benefit this Sunday Ape will also be remembered with his portion going will go to the Herkimer County Humane Society. God Bless All of You.

You my friend saved so many! We the people choose what your job would be and obviously you were chose because you were one of the best. The heartless person who shot you took your body but not your spirit! Your memory and spirit will live on forever! Thank You
