As a daughter of a Chief Deputy in WI, Granddaughter of a Sheriff, and neice of State Trooper who died in service in WI, I know the fear of watching a loved one walk through the door to head to their patrol car, not knowing if they'd come home again. I also know the unconditional love you receive daily from a dog who isn't an animal, but rather, "another family member". My sympathies to the family of Officer Longbehn for losing a partner and a family member, one in the same. And Kody, run free without any of the pain you had in your last few minutes, knowing that so many of us are crying at the loss of one who meant to much to not only your "home" family, your "police family", and all of us who are just simply dog worshippers. Lost, Kody, but NEVER forgotten.

Officer Kody gave his life protecting his fellow brothers. You will be sadly missed by many here but let it give us strength knowing K9 Kody is in a peaceful place, retired...catching frisbees in a place there are no bad people. We will all be joined together again. Kody will be waiting to play. He loved you.

I know officer Dave Longbehn and I petted Kody numerous times. When I heard that he was stabbed and died as a result, it broke my heart. My deepest sympathies to the St Paul Police Dept and to Dave Lingbehn's family. Kody was truly a hero and he will be fondly remembered along with all the other police k-9 who served loyally. I am a former reserve officer for st paul pd for 8 years and an now an associate with Ramsey County Sheriff's as a volunteer and I know that when we lose an officer, in this case a k-9 it affects the whole community as well as the family. My prayers are with you.
