Reflections for K9 Tank
We sometimes forget the "other" brave souls that protect us at home and abroad. K-9's are true and loyal friends that protect & serve to the very end. RIP "Tank", you served your handler and community well.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that
pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of
our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of
food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and
vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and
strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and
times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small
thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one
suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are
intent; Tank's eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly, he breaks from
the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster. You have been
spotted, and when you and your special friend Tank finally meet, you cling
together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and
you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from
your life, but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together...

We all know, whether we serve in the military, fire service, or law enforcement that accidents happen. Even the most disciplined of dogs can be distracted by something they see or smell, and no one is to blame.
I do not serve in the military, fire service, or law enforcement. I don't even live anywhere near Utah. Yet, I find myself imagining all of the people who were helped or saved with the help of Tank. Another star was born yesterday.
RIP, Tank. Thank you. <3

My thoughts and prayers are with the Utah Highway Patrol at this time on the loss of a great dog. It is tough to lose a police dog in the line of duty as it is a police officer. It is tough on the dog's handler and the agency to deal with the death of a police dog. I watched this television show that was about police officers and they had a feature on police dogs. They told about how one dog had a bounty on its head by drug dealers. Tank was a good dog and he did his job well.
To all the law enforcemnet agencies who lose an officer or officer. It is a very tough thing to go through.
