K9 Riddick was killed in a vehicle crash after his handler's vehicle was rammed by a suspect during a vehicle pursuit at about 5:45 pm.

Officers were alerted that a parolee was in a vehicle and was en route to another location to sell narcotics. Officers located the vehicle and discovered that the parolee was a passenger. When the officers initiated a traffic stop the driver fled and led officers on a pursuit.

As K9 Riddick's handler positioned his vehicle to perform a precision immobilization technique the driver rammed the patrol car, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and overturn in a cornfield. The driver was arrested and charged with numerous felonies related to the incident. The passenger was located a short distance away after fleeing from the crash scene and was also charged.

K9 Riddick succumbed to his injuries from the crash.

K9 Riddick had served with the Nampa Police Department for two years and was certified in apprehension and drug detection.
