K9 Falco was shot and killed during a canine apprehension of a subject wanted for aggravated battery and reckless endangerment.

The subject had fled during a traffic stop in the 1000 block of 35th Court. The man opened fire on officers, killing K9 Falco. The man was convicted and sentenced to 8.5 years.

K9 Falco had served with the Gary Police Department for eight years.
