I never knew my great-uncle, but from all the stories told to me by my grandmother (his siser-in-law) and the rest of the Mascari family, he was an officer and a gentleman. May he, and all other fallen officers, rest in peace. Stephanie Brooks I said a little prayer today for Inspector Mascari and his family. He may be gone but never forgotten. He will always be a New York HERO. Robyn Wilkes I recall the incident and subsequent honor/funeral procession, when as a boy of eight, my father, patrol officer #99, recounted the tradegy of what happened. It made a lasting impression on me, as both my children and grandchildren can attest --them having also heard the story. Peter Rauch Dad - After all these years, the City of Mt. Vernon gave you a beautiful tribute. It touched my heart and reliving those days after we lost you made me so sad again. I will always love you and remember what a wonderful Dad you were. Talking about you brought back some forgotten memories - visiting you at the police station, walking with you to work in a blizzard because you felt you should be at the station house and the last day I saw you.
Dad, you will always be in my heart. You were a wonderful father and left my life far to soon. Love,

All these years later the memory is still so fresh and so sad. A wonderful policeman a wonderful husband and father.
