Your heroism and service is honored today, the 159th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Every day, I'm proud to be related to Casper Lauer and I feel that it isn't about the number or the year of an officer's ultimate sacrifice. A memorial was dedicated to Officer Lauer at St. Boniface Cemetery in Chicago on 10-29-02. It was noted with photo in the Chicago Tribune 10/30/02 and attended by several of Officer Lauer's relatives. He was the first Chicago officer killed in the line of duty.
