Hey Gio!!! I know your up there with our heavenly father. Thinking about what happened still gives me goosebumps. I still remember your face after every exam in the mpi class wondering if you passed you didnt even care about the score you just wanted to know if you passed. Just know you will never be forgotten. God be with you always.

To all of the Police Recruits in our nation, and to the rookie Police Officer's, I ask you to give 100% to your family and safely be the hardest working professional that you can be for your respective Department. I ask this, because Gio was exactly that. A model Police Officer and far more, a outstanding son.

I was Gio's Sergeant, but more importantly, he was my friend. I am confident that God had a plan for him and I trust God's will, direction and guidance.

God Bless our real superstars, the Law Enforcement Community!

I still remember the energetic kid with the braces who entered my class every day and said, "What's up, Ms DixEN??" Gio's passion for life and people I have never forgotten. To the family, especially Elaine, I offer my condolences. Absent with the body=present with the Lord.

This is such a terrible horrific event. My fiance just had a wreck in a patrol car a few weeks ago. When I read the full story of this accident it put me in tears. I just pray his fiance will continue to live her life and his little boy will grow up not thinking about how sad it is but grow up knowing his father lost his life doing what he loves. I pray he realizes his dad was a hero. As someone who has also lost an officer in 2005 my heart really goes out to the family but also the police department. Being in law enforcement creates a special family with an amazing bond that can never be broken. Gonzalez will forever live in the hearts of all the officers at Miami-Dade. Its a dangerous job but you guys find the courage to continue doing it. RIP Giovanni
