My baby boy, Dad and Mom just want you to know how much we all miss you and love you, you were in your spot in your life where you wanted to be, you always wanted to protect your surroundings and you were doing just that. We are so proud of you and I just can't tell you how much our heart aches for you but I know you are with your Greatest Father in Heaven and are watching over all of us here at home. your sisters are missing you terribly. Your Megan is growing up to be a young and beautiful teenage girl. I know you can see that and Bailey is such a beautiful young boy to be proud of.

To the surviving fiance of Ricky Stiles:

I spoke last week with another surviving fiance and wanted to reach out to you and offer my condolences for I know you have a very heavy heart as does Ricky's immediate family. Although my earlier reflection didn't make mention directly of your own personal grief, I know the dreams you had of a life with Ricky were also shattered.

I pray for solace for all those who love and miss Ricky. May you too get the support you need from the law enforcement community.

Rest In Peace, Ricky. I am so sorry you were robbed of your life at such a young age.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace in such incidents & our only real comfort comes from Him. May His strength, comfort & peace continue to be the sustaining force in the lives of all who knew this beloved officer; and may it somehow help to know they do not grieve alone.

I was looking at the deputies which we lost from LA and noticed that Deputy Stiles was survived by a fiancée and would like to give you something which was passed to my daughter when her fiancée Josh Norris died in the line of duty on Jul 5th 2007. His death is which lead me to this sight and being a father I could not find the words to explain the lost to my daughter who had gotten engaged July 4th 2009. I hope this brings you some comfort.

A LETTER FROM HEAVEN
To my fiance', some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and he said,'I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.'
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....In the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human they are bound to bring tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you would not understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one step at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you to;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented...that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low:
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go...from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.
I will always be with you!

Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office

My deepest condolences to the family of Deputy Sheriff Stiles. I know the heart will always ache for your loss. Just know that there are many who share that loss and a listening ear is just a phone call away. I'm sure Ricky has already made friends with my son Josh up in Heaven. They will always be watching over us and their brothers in blue until it's our time to join them.
Many blessings to you.
