Tp all the most gracious,loving,kind,thoughtful friends and foes who took the time to write such heartfelt reflections about my loving husband, I thank your from the bottom of my heart from myself, sons, mother-in-law and sister-in-law. It has taken me this this long to work up the nerve to read these, and I must say that I could not help but cry my tears all over again. James "Rock" as he was known to many was one of a kind. He touched so many hearts and I learned that there were so many people that he met only once, and was totally smittened by by character. I will be forever grateful to you all and will do my best to read such loving comments.

Today a little boy wanted to know what the letters on my shirt meant. His mother said sir, what does CAT stand for. I told her and she stated her son wanted to know. I told them where I worked and she stated her husband use to be a a trooper. She stated he died and told me who you were. I stated I knew of you and the look in your son's eyes was AWESOME. That young Man is PROUD of his daddy. He asked me "Do you know my daddy?' Just the look in your family's eyes. It affected me in a way you will never know. God speed.......

Forgive me for missing the anniversary of your E.O.W., but I felt as though I could not continue to read about so many tragedies. I now realize the visit each day to leave a word of encouragement and hope to the loved ones of others, helps me to remember that I am not alone with my pain and heartbreak. So may I say to your friends and loved ones that my thoughts and prayers are with them now and always. Continue to keep watch over them and those still out on patrol and may they know you will never be forgotten.

On behalf of our entire family, we wish to pay honor to James' memory on the first anniversary of the day James so tragically lost his life. His heroism, valor and bravery will be forever remembered.

May you be continue to be comforted by the support and caring of your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. We grieve for you and with you. Our family lost our beloved Larry Lasater when he was fatally shot in April of 2005 during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers, so we know the anquish you are still experiencing.

Please know that the brotherhood and sisterhood of law enforcement and police survivors will always be by your side on each step of the journey.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service James gave to his community and the citizens of South Carolina, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 1, 2008.

To those who loved Corporal Haynes, my heart goes to you all. Know that you're not alone in this journey you walk. I lost my fiance in the line of duty January 2003 and my world was forever changed. Even as time as gone forward, and I've found many reasons and ways to smile, I still have not forgotten the man that he was. Dennis was a beautiful person and he forever has a part of my heart, just as I'm sure James will always be a part of yours.

It takes a special person to put their lives on the line everyday to make this world a little safer for us all. I know many of these men never would've thought of themselves as "heroes" but they were in so many ways. It's sad that it they had to lose their lives for some of us to see that. Having said that, thank you Corporal Haynes for helping to make this world a better place. You will not be forgotten here in Winnipeg. I know this isn't a very manly thing to do, but if you happen to run into Dennis up there, please give him a big hug for the kids and I. Dennis was a good man and we miss him more than words can say.
