To Mike's Family & Friends It has been almost 9 months since we lost Mike. My thoughts and prayers are still and will always be with you. I miss Mike so much, he was a true friend.
While in the academy together we were asked to come up with an Ethics Pledge. Mike put this together
"We stand here today upon a threshold We have a code we freely honor We strive through professionalism and pride to honor those that came before us We the warriors of class 69 stand at the ready upon a thin blue line.
No matter what Mike did he gave his all. He truly touched our lives.
I miss you Mike. Love and prayers Jimmie "G" & Carolyn Jimmie "G"

It has been almost 6 months now since we lost Mike, and the loss is still palpable. As Mike's Chief, director of his academy, and his friend, I had the privilege of knowing first hand what a special person and remarkable police officer Mike was. Mike was initially a campus security officer, but when he graduated he was immediately employed by the Washington County Sheriff's Department. When the opportunity came to return to Mineral Area College as a Campus Police Officer, Mike came back home. Mike was the kind of officer that knew the value of community policing on a personal level, and Mike brought his special talents into this department, resulting in service improvement for anyone who was around him. It is rare in life where someone's personal attributes fit perfectly with the vocation they chose to be their life's work, but in Mike's case he was the perfect fit for police work and Mineral Area College. Mike will be missed not just for who he was, nor just for the job he did. Mike will be missed most for the way he made others feel about themselves. For me, I will always miss Mike for the way his attitude and outlook on life reminded me to be the best person I can. Rest easy my friend, with those hallowed few we honor in our hearts. You have earned it with a job well done and a duty fulfilled. Mark S. Potratz, Director of MACDPS Mineral Area College Dept. of Public Safety 2008-05-13

Mike it seems like yesterday we were in the academy together. I can remember you running and passing all the younger cadets in P.T. class. As one of the older guys in the class this made me feel good to see that "us" older dogs can still keep up with the young ones. I miss you Mike or A.K.A. Granpa. R.I.P. God bless your family and friends. PO P. COLBERT ELSBERRY POLICE DEPARTMENT 2008-02-24

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Triplett. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Michael, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Michael's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Michael's life was about so much more than the way he died. Michael will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Deputy Triplett, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been almost five years but we still miss him terribly.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

To all those touched by the loss of Deputy Triplett -- Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Colorado Springs (CO) Police Protective Association 2007-12-24
We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Deputy Triplett and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Deputy Triplett has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.
To the family, friends, and colleagues of Deputy Triplett, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Deputy Triplett is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
For those who pledge to uphold it, Freedom requires a sacrifice the protected will never know. TPD/Special Agent FBI New York City 2007-12-23

THE FINAL INSPECTION
The Policeman stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek? To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was rough, and sometimes I've been violent, Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny, That wasn't mine to keep.... Though I worked a lot of overtime When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here. They never wanted me around Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't..... I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne Where the saints had often trod As the policeman waited quietly, For the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman, You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets, You've done your time in Hell." misty
