Officer Whatley your work on this Earth as we know it is now done. You are in God's Hands now brother. May you rest in peace.

As a former NC Trooper who was assigned to Troop G in what is now District VI and who worked in Graham County, I take this opportunity on the 60th anniversary of the death of this good Trooper to say to the spirit of Trooper Thomas Whatley: Your heroic service to the people and State of North Caroilna is not forgotten, nor will it ever be. People talked highly of you 22 years ago when I was a rookie Trooper working Bryson City and Robbinsville. Your untimely death is still mourned. God bless your surviving family. Boone Carver served 17 years for this terrible deed. Rest easy brother, we have the watch from here.
