Rest easy Brother.

Albertville Police Department Albertville, Al

February 25, 2006

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

You are my true hero, we will see eachother again as the big guy promises us this!! Take care god Bless you. One more thing I promise I will always look out for your brother as you have. RS

The Law Enforcement Prayer
by Dan Lovin
Our Father who art in Heaven
In a few minutes I will assume my daily beat.
Facing the unknow but being closer to Thee than ever before.
Halloweed be Thy name
Even in the face of death and crime, Thou art everywhere to guide me.
I will fear no evil.
Thy rod and Thy staff comfort me.
Thy will be done
Thy will, not mine shall be done.
Do not let me be selfish.
O Lord, if you choose to take me, let me die as a man in order that another man may live.
On earth as it is in Heavan
Let me be a guide here on earth to those who are misguided and lost.
Help me to help those who are in need of help in order that we all may be worthy of Thy Kingdom in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
Especially those who live in poverty and misery
And forgive us our trespasses
I am a sinner. O Lord let me never forget that I am no better than my fellow men.
Let me never forget that by Thy grace I am on the right side of the law.
As we forgive those who trespass against us
Forgive those who dispise me and the uniform which represents the law and order.
Forgive them for they do not know better.
I have forgiven them.
Lead us not into temptation
Make me strong for I am only human.
Deliver me from hate and jealousy and from wanting something I should not have in your eyes.
For thine is the kingdom and the power and glory
Let me be no judge or jury.
Let me be impartial.
Let me be just and fair.
Forever and ever, Amen.

J-Rod,

Words can not express the pain that I feel. You were an inspiration to us all of how to be a model officer. I cherish every moment that I got to serve in the same uniform as you. I will never forget the greasy lunches at Waffle House or the late nights of poker (in which you took most of my money). I can truly say that I am a better person just for knowing you. We will never let your memory rest and your family will always be in our hearts. We will meet again someday.

Our hearts are saddened at the loss of another officer. Our prayers are with his family and co-workers, that God would grant them strength to endure what is to come as they adjust to life without Officer Jensen and face the trial of his murderer. May God grant a conviction and swift justice in this case.

"In The Line of Duty"

What is the meaning of "In The Line Of Duty"
It means that an officer made the Ultimate sacrifice.
It means that someone took an officer's life.
A hero has fallen.

Officers who gave their all
To protect and serve
Have been killed by someone whom they swore
To protect and serve.

It means that their badge will no longer be on their chest
And they will join
"The Best Of The Best"

It means that family and friends are left behind
To deal with the lost of a loved one.
Only having the memories of that loved one
Close to their hearts.
Something no one can ever take away.

It means that family members will stand at the officers grave
And wonder why ...
Why would someone take an officer's life
And leave them there to die?
If we only knew.

Today an officer will place their badge on their chest
To fulfill the dreams of heroes killed
"In The Line Of Duty"

Words alone are not enough to capture the person you were. Your actions, deeds and thoughts have not gone unnoticed. I am honored to have been a part of the 43rd recruit class with you. Yet in this time of sadness, there is joy in remembering the lives you have touched, the people who have benefited from knowing you and the people who were close to you. You will truly be missed as a friend and as a brother who wore the badge with pride, honor and dignity. The number 2305 will never be forgotten and you will always be remembered in my prayers. My thoughts and prayers also go out to the family, friends and co-workers. May God bless you all.
