Sgt. Shambleau,

88 years have passed since you gave up your life to protect the very city I call home. Your example lives on even today in Port Huron. Thank you for your service, and continue to enjoy your rest, sir. You are a hero to us even today.

Grandfather;
Today, Oct 10, 2017, the Port Huron Police Department held a memorial service to honor your service and sacrifice for your family and community. A new headstone was unveiled in front of a large group of police officers, local dignitaries and your family. Your memory as one of Port Huron's Finest will never be forgotten. You are greatly missed, but your legacy survives.

Dear Kelly..I believe it was my great uncle Thomas Hastings, who was with your brave great uncle. I feel great sympathy for this senseless, horrific loss. My deepest sympathy. I am trying to reach or contact any relatives of Thomas Hastings. I think he was my grandfather's brother or uncle. I have no older relatives to ask, but found the info about Thomas as a piece of paper in a family Bible. The family had some roots in Ireland and then in St Joseph's, Friendsville PA near the Binghamton, NY border area. If you have any info my email is [email protected]. My maiden name was Patricia Hastings. I'm 67 yrs old. Many thanks..and sorrow for your loss. Sergeant Roy was a hero, as were the people whom he loved and had to live without him.
