View all 9 ReflectionsOfficer Mareno was my Great Grandfather. One of his two daughters was my Grandmother and my Dad's mother. Sadly, she had a similar fate as his and died all too young, when my father was in his teens and my uncle seven years younger. However, Officer Mareno's life of service to others certainly was echoed in his grandchildren as my Dad served twenty years in the US Navy (both Korean and VN wars) and his brother spent a lifetime as a minister and has now retired to Baton Rouge.
