Special Agent Christian was shot and killed in the parking lot of Greenbelt Middle School, in Greenbelt, Maryland, while conducting a stakeout. Special Agent Christian was working with a task force searching for the murderer of Corporal John Novabilski, of the Prince George's County Police Department.
During the stakeout the suspect snuck up behind Agent Christian's department vehicle, in the same manner as he snuck up on Corporal Novabilski, and shot him several times. The suspect was immediately chased by other agents and officers and was shot and killed during the ensuing shootout.
Agent Christian was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the Federal Bureau of Investigation for 20 years. He was survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters.

View all 36 ReflectionsThis morning I woke up with Mr. William (Bill) Christian on my mind. I am not sure why, but I did. I found this page this morning and wanted to give my deepest condolences to the Christian family and Bill's friends.
Bill was an amazing person. He would stop by the Command Post to shoot the breeze. Everyone was always happy to see him. His Sir name fit him perfectly because he certainly exhibit being a Christian at all times. Bill was not only an agent but a handy person that helped out where he could at WFO (the Point). Whatever needed to be done he did it to the best of his ability. We would talk about family and anything that made him laugh and smile (his wife, children and there was a special little girl that brought much joy to his heart). Again, I am not sure why Bill came to mind this morning but I can tell you this, I am glad to have met such a fine person in my life time. A good person has left the earth but not our hearts. God, bless the Christian family and allow them to carry on the kind spirit led by Mr. William (Bill) Christian.
Bill, you will forever be missed but never forgotten.
